Graduate School Strengthened Supervision on Short-term Teaching Quality and Carried Out Inspection of Course Teaching Order

      In recent years, Graduate School has strengthened short term teaching and practice. This year, the short term witnessed a total of more than 100 well-known scholars and industrial elites from home and abroad, who offered 124 courses and seminars for our graduate students. To strengthen supervision of the short term teaching order to ensure the orderly implementation of graduate teaching, Graduate School dispatched teaching inspectors to the field of all graduate teaching units, carrying out on-site inspections on short-term teaching situation.

Graduate School conducted a comprehensive and detailed examination on teachers’ teaching, students’ attendance, teaching equipment operation and teaching status and so on, making a spot check on 37 graduate courses. The overall situation was that, teachers and lectures teachers were on time for duty, with sufficient preparation for the class; the majority of students went to class on time, full of energy; teaching order was orderly, and there was rich campus learning atmosphere.

However, some problems were also found out in the inspection. Because in the short term outside experts were invited to offer course lectures, the time was not fixed, there existed regular adjustment problems, and some colleges could not timely release course adjustment information in the information platform, study arrangements of graduate students were affected; besides, a few teachers privately rescheduled teaching venues without prior permission.

Teaching for graduate students in the short term is an important part of our graduate education. Stable teaching order and normative teaching behavior are conducive to enhancing the quality of short-term courses and lectures. Graduate School will strengthen the supervision of the short-term classroom teaching order, occasionally organize teaching examination, and standardize graduate teaching management, to ensure the quality of graduate education.
