On September 12, 2015, our university welcomed the new arrival of 2015 graduate students. This year Xiamen University enrolled 4717 students, including 3879 master students and 838 doctoral students. Another group of young students full of dreams closely linked their own life to Xiamen University, setting sail in here to start a new life.
In order to do well in orientation of graduate students and provide attentive services to the students, the school held a number of meetings in advance relevant to deployment of work. In the morning of September 12, party secretary Zhang Yan and deputy party secretary Lin Dongwei came to the orientation site of graduate students, visited teachers and volunteers participating in the orientation work, and thanked them for their hard work. In the department registration sites, Zhang Yan asked in detail about registration and enrollment, learned of the proportion of students from Xiamen University and other universities, and made cordial exchange with students and their parents.
Before the arrival of new graduate students, the school had made careful planning, through the QQ group, WeChat, website to release orientation note and the schedule in advance, actively prepared for the steps of enrollment education, and made data materials such as 2015 Graduate Education Handbook and Tips for important steps of graduate education and management, so that new students could have more specific understanding of graduate students study and life, which laid the foundation for them to adapt the new stage as soon as possible. This year, Xiamen University has enabled new orientation system that allows graduate students to complete online pre-registration, saving on-site registration time and welcomed by students. Relevant functional departments and colleges carefully organized, orchestrated, and efficiently completed the preparatory orientation, effectively guaranteeing the smooth registration for new students.
The whole registration site was in an orderly, warm atmosphere. In the orientation points of various colleges and departments, the faculty and students were very busy. They enthusiastically guided registration of new students, patiently answered questions, and provided timely and thoughtful services.
Graduate study as a new stage can broaden your horizons, and bring growth and harvest. Lu Chaoyong, a 2015 master student of College of Humanities said, "I has been really looking forward to coming to Xiamen, and also feel very fortunate to study in Xiamen University. I hope I can enjoy the learning process in the future graduate study, and make efforts to find a completely new self."
