Recently, the notice about the change of personnel in the Graduate Education Steering Committee of 28 professional degree (including Finance) jointly published by the Academic Degree Commission of the State Council, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, released the names of the new members of the Graduate Education Steering Committee of 28 professional degree (including Finance). 17 XMU professors of 16 professional degrees are elected, ranking the third in the national scale. Each of the 15 professional degrees including Finance, Applied Statistics, International Business, Insurance, Assets Appraisal, Auditing, Law, MTCSOL, MIT, Journalism and Communication, M.C.H.M, MPA, Accounting, Tourism Management, Art, has one professor elected respectively, while Taxation has two professor elected and the secretariat of the Taxation degree continue to stay in Xiamen University.

Graduate Education Steering Committee of 28 professional degree is a professional organization under the leadership of the State Council, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. It consists of the experts and professionals recommended by the related departments, sectors, enterprises and institutions. It is mainly in charge instruction, supervision, accreditation, research and consultation etc. Usually, the committee consists of 15 to 35 members, with each member’ term of office being 5 year, and cannot be resumed for more than one time. The graduate education of professional degree in China now covers 40 professional degrees. In February this year, the office of Academic Degree Commission of the State Council released documents commanding the change of personnel in the Graduate Education Steering Committee of 28 professional degree (including Finance). The graduate school of Xiamen University attached great importance to this document and actively recommended 19 professors according to the requirements and the quota.

In the past few years, the graduate school has done many in regard to training different types of talents including revising the education program for the professional degree, and strengthening the construction of the double tutorial system and practice base, as a result, the quality of education of professional degree in Xiamen University has made significant improvement.
