PhD Candidate at School of Environment & Ecology Publishes Paper in “Nature Communications” as First Author

“Ambient nitrate switches the ammonium consumption pathway in the euphotic ocean”, a research paper by Prof. Shuji Gao’s research group at the XMU State Key Laboratory of Marine Environment Science, was recently published online in “Nature Communications”.


The paper lists Xianhui Wan, a PhD candidate in the XMU School of Environment and Ecology, as the first author, and Shuji Gao, a chair professor under the Thousand Experts Program, as the corresponding author. Other collaborators for the research presented in the paper include Professors Minhan Dai, Dalin Shi and Yao Zhang and postdoctoral fellow Huaxia Sheng from the State Key Laboratory of Marine Environment Science; Prof. Tom Trull from Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization; and Prof. Mike Lomas from the U.S. Bigelow Marine Laboratory.
